Apple’s new iOS 6 operating system will include new features that will result in more options to keep users entertained, informed, and enhance online social connections too.
Apple’s new iOS 6 is already making plenty of news today even though the new operating system will not be fully released until this fall. That the system will include the addition of some 200 new features to the world's most advanced mobile operating system is no small matter for users, developers and investors alike. Although many of the features will be aimed squarely at technological improvements, there will also be a host of other new features that will result in more options to entertain users and enhance their online social connections as well.
Some of the new features that we know about now include an all new Apple Maps application with Apple’s own cartography, turn-by-turn navigation and a spectacular looking new Flyover view of the Earth from high-altitude. The iOS 6 alignment with Siri will include expanded support for more foreign languages, instant access to sports scores, local restaurant recommendations and movie listings too. Many users are also excited about the new Facebook integration features for Contacts and Calendar that will allow users the ability to post directly from Notification Center, Siri and Facebook-enabled apps like Photos, Safari and Maps; Shared Photo Streams via iCloud; and Passbook as well.
The iOS 6 system will have built-in Facebook integration that many are claiming will be the best mobile device interface ever, and allows signing in just once to post from the Notification Center, Siri and other Facebook-enabled apps, including Photos, Safari and Maps. Users will be able to keep track of all of their friends quickly and easily as all Facebook friends' information will be instantly updated across all types of iOS devices, automatically updating details in Contacts when they change, and it will also schedule events in the Calendar feature. Users can also "like" content directly from the App Store and iTunes and see what their friends are recommending at the same time. iOS 6 will also introduce new ways to share photos with friends and family using Shared Photo Stream albums that will be instantly available on all of their iOS devices, as well as with iPhoto and Aperture when using their Macs online.
The expanded iOS 6 Siri features interface will now work with the new iPad as well as iPhone 4S, and will includes language support for English, French, German and Japanese, Spanish, Italian, Korean, Mandarin and Cantonese. The Siri hands-free-functionality will go even farther with IOS 6 in its new Eyes Free mode that enables users to interact with the iPhones using voice commands alone. Siri is currently optimized for use in 15 different countries and using their voices alone, users will be able to find sports scores, make restaurant reservations, update Facebook status, post to Twitter or launch a new app.
The latest word on the availability of Apple’s new system is that although the iOS 6 beta software is already immediately available for iOS Developer Program members at developer.apple.com, the full program will not be available as a free software update for iPhone 4S, iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, the new iPad, iPad 2 and iPod touch until later this year in the fall.
